Tourist Visas

Australia has entry visas specifically for visits by people coming to Australia  for  tourism, to  visit friends or relatives, or for short-term study.

The visa options are:

a. Short stay visitor visa, for stays of three months or less;

b. Long stay visitor visas, for stays between three and six months.

c. Sponsored visitors visas.

In order to travel around Australia you will need a valid visa before entry to Australia. Many countries have reciprocal arrangements with Australia, which allow citizens to arrange temporary tourist visas either electronically (ETA) or through travel agents.

The sponsored visitor visa has been designed for people who may not be able to obtain a visitor visa due to doubt that they are genuine visitors, who will abide by their visa conditions.

An Australian sponsor can provide an undertaking that their visitor will abide by visa conditions including that they depart Australia before their visa expires. In some cases, a financial security bond may be requested to ensure that the person leaves at the end of their visit. The security bond may be forfeited if the visitor breaches visa conditions.
