Business Visas

Australia encourages successful, high calibre business people to migrate to Australia and create new businesses or further develop existing businesses.

The business skills visa is divided into four categories and allows experienced business owners, senior executives, investors and distinguished business talent to apply for a provisional business skills visa.

Business owners must have a substantial ownership interest in a business.

The visa criteria relates to turnover of your business, net assets in the business and personal assets.

You must be less than 45 years age and (in the majority of cases) have vocational English language abilities.

For senior executive employees of a major business it is essential they have substantial senior management experience in this role.

Investment linked applicants must be investors/business people willing to invest substantial amounts of money in Australia.

The business talent category allows for high-calibre business people who have sponsorship from a State/Territory government, which will allow them to gain direct permanent residency.

The application process is two-step. Applicants are granted a Business Skills (Provisional) visa, valid for four years.

If after establishing the requisite level of business activity or maintaining their investment, they will be eligible to make an application for permanent residence.
